  • Cyprus Property is Hot! There are 20 million northern Europeans (European baby boomers) that will be retiring in the next 4 years which is a great number and many will be British. With warm weather, low crime rate, low cost of living in Cyprus and English speaking population, do you think Cyprus will have enough properties for every one?
H1N1 (Swine Flu) Vaccine Delay in Cyprus

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post based on information I had from local reports and the Minister of Health regarding the incoming H1N1 vaccines...this is yet to happen as proposed. Vaccinations were supposed to begin October 15th, I have yet to hear of anyone who has been able to receive them. Now, with flu season upon us many feel worried with all the media hype and deaths.

A school in Limassol even took precautionary measures and closed down when a few children came down with H1N1 flu virus. Luckily, all cases so far have been mild. We have family in the US with small children and they are of course in a panic about all of this. Recently, when their son became ill with flu-like symptoms the doctor told them NOT to worry, and do NOT read all the online reports of tragedy as it will only scare you. The pedatrician also said that even in the US, which has been hardest hit, all cases in her office so far have been mild and like regular flu except for babies under 3 months old who have had some complications but recovered. I am not saying it is not dangerous or negating the fact that there have been deaths but widespread panic and paranoia is not necessary. There is enough Tamiflu in Cyprus (apparently) which can be taken within the first 48 hours of illness anyway if caught early. Most people are going straight to the doctor anyway this year at the first signs of flu.

My family has all received the yearly seasonal flu vaccine but don't know what to do about the H1N1 vaccine if and when it becomes available in Cyprus. What will you do? Are you worried that is still not available?

If anyone has updated information on when and who will have access to those first vaccines in Cyprus please share it with me.
