About Marathounda Village in Paphos
Local traditions and the old ways are still very much alive in Marathounda and visitors are always warmly and graciously welcomed. The village has a local taverna where grilled meat, fish, fries, Greek salad, dips, wine, beer and soft drinks are served at a very reasonable cost. However, for groceries and other supplies you would probably need to go into Paphos, although there are a couple of village stores in the neighbouring village of Konia which sell basic items.
A new, purpose built, centre is to be opened shortly in Marathounda providing sports, a snack bar and various other activities of interest for children and teenagers living in the village.
There is a regular bus service between Marathounda and Paphos and ALL school children (upon presentation of their school photo ID) may ride the public buses free to anywhere on the island.
